GATE

The Gifted and Talented Education (GATE) program supports unique opportunities for high-achieving and underachieving pupils who are identified as gifted and talented. By state definition, gifted students are pupils who possess a capacity for excellence far beyond that of their chronological peers. This capacity includes many and varied characteristics that require modifications of curriculum and instruction. These modifications form the basis of gifted and talented educational services.

The district offers GATE testing for students in 2nd grade during the late Spring. This process will include the Cognitive Abilities Test Screener (CogAT).  Information about testing and an opt out form will go home in the weeks leading up to the test. Some students will have the opportunity to re-test in 5th grade. Results will be sent home via USPS mail.

To obtain a copy of your student's GATE test results, please contact your school site administrator or school psychologist if your child was tested at a district public school.
